The Prince's Trust Rock Gala Concerts began the Eighties trend for 
charitable concerts in aid of good causes. The first 1982 Gala 
revived a spark that had been fired by George Harrison's Concert 
for Bangladesh in 1971, and turned it into a blazing modern tradition. 
This tradition reached its peak with the Live Aid Concerts to help 
relieve the Ethiopian famine of 1985.

Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Bryan Adams, 
Phil Collins, Paul Young, Ben E. King Alison Moyet, Midge Ure, Labi 
Siffre, Mark King (Level 42), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Go West 
and Curiosity Killed the Cat. It is impressive by anyone's standards.
